Troop 838 Announces "Amnesty for all Outlaw Tents, Coolers and Grubboxes"

Posted on Apr 20 2015 - 8:30pm

Dallas, Texas

On April 20, 2015, the leadership of Troop 838, through a Quartermaster proclomation, announced a new amnesty program for outlaw tents, coolers and grubboxes.  Despite its political sensitivity, Troop 838 believes that granting amnesty to this trouble gear is a way to "do a good turn daily" and ensure future camping opportunities for all.  Dan McAuliffe, Troop 838's quartermaster, spearheaded this idea and stated, "there are a lot of tents, coolers and grubboxes which have lost their way.  They cannot be left out in the cold.  They need a safe Scout Barn as much as the other gear...maybe even more!"  Mr. McAuliffe choked back tears as he continued, "As Scouts and Scouters, we need to do our part to make sure that all gear is cleaned and returned after every campout...how else can we provide a future for new Scouts?"
